Jock Butussil gave a talk on product management and UX design to Cambridge Usability Group last night. Here are my notes:

My notes

The product is a means, not an end. How successfully are users achieving what they want to achieve?

The product isn’t the important thing, it’s to help users achieve goals.

A product manager aligns teams who may have conflicting needs and pull in different directions.

Align everyone to the shared product vision and make it matter to motivate the team.

MVPs should be valuable and useful and feasible.

Use evidence to decide which features to work on.

Product management = what and why
UX = how
[these two often cross over in my experience – J]

Share user needs and metrics.
